Sooraj Agro Mills (India) Pvt Ltd a leading name in rice processing and distribution, is known for its commitment to quality, professionalism, and sustainability. The company's journey began with Mr. Surendran Arumughan, its current Managing Director, who started as a large-scale rice farmer before expanding into wholesale rice dealership. Recognising the need for consistent quality in paddy processing, he established Surendra Modern Rice Mill in 1995. Products from the mill were marketed under the brand name Sooraj, quickly earning customer trust for their quality and reliability.
Driven by a vision of growth with responsibility, the company adopted a professional management approach, strict quality controls, and sustainability as central tenets of its operations. As demand grew and capacity needs increased, the business expanded into a new unit, incorporated as Sooraj Agro Mills (India) Pvt Ltd. Today, the company continues to deliver high-quality rice products while maintaining its focus on sustainable practices and customer satisfaction.

A selection of the finest Kerala rice varieties. With each grain passing rigorous quality tests. We offer a diverse range of high-quality options, from Jyothi Matta to nutritious broken rice. Our products are the epitome of superlative rice, catering to discerning tastes.

This long grain matta rice is used extensively in Kerala cuisine and has a distinctive red hue due to the bran layer on the grains. It has a unique, slightly nutty flavor and a pleasant aroma. It is considered a nutritious rice variety.

Unda matta is a short-grain variety of matta rice, which is a type of rice cultivated in Kerala. It is characterized by its reddish-brown color due to the presence of the pericarp. It has a slightly nutty and earthy flavor. It is a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it a healthier alternative to white rice.

For single boiled rice, paddy is partially boiled in its husk, then dried and milled. The grains are typically firmer with grains that tend to be more separate. It may have a slightly different taste and cooks faster.

Kuruva rice is a traditional, indigenous variety of rice from Kerala, known for its small, round, white grains, it has a nutty flavour. It is known to be easier to cook and absorbs flavours well. Typically grown during the main paddy season in Kerala.

Ponni rice is a hybrid variety developed in neighboring Tamil Nadu. It has medium-length grains, which become fluffy and separate when cooked. It has lower starch and glycemic index making it a healthy option. With a fragrant aroma and distinct flavor, it is very versatile used extensively in many rice dishes including pulavs an daily meals.

Idli is a soft & fluffy steamed cake made with fermented rice & lentil batter. This rice is a subset of parboiled rice and are specific varieties chosen such that they are whiter in color, fatter in dimension and can also aid fermentation.

Broken rice retains most of the nutritional value of whole rice, including carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. It is very useful in making rice porridge and soup as broken rice cooks faster. It can also be used in the production of rice wine ane rice flour.
